Comments Wow Susan! What a fabulous site you have here! I've been looking for something like this for over a year now, (since I got my computer)and after being unsuccessful, resigned myself to the fact that no one out there really cared about our beloved Robbie anymore. Well, you proved me wrong...to my great delight. With every turn of your pages I was "oooing and aahhing"! (Hope ya don't think I'm nuts). I've been such a fan of his since I was a little kid, (I'm 44 now!) and have some of his films on video. Perhaps you can help me in locating more. Tried unsuccessfully to get This Happy Breed, but I do have a copy that I taped from TV - afraid I'm going to wear it out. I just watched some of Major Barbara last night, fast forwarding to the Bill Walker 'bits'. I also have Androcles and the Lion, Treasure Island (of course) and taped Odd Man Out from the tv. Remembered seeing The Hidden Room (Obsession) years ago, but haven't seen it since on the tube. Would love to have that one too. I especially like the films where his act

Comments Ahoy! I just left a long, rambling posting on the photo gallery guestbook that perhaps would better have been placed over here, as I added a couple names to the list of Newton-wannabe's. I'm so happy to find other fans of this larger-than-life personality out there that perhaps I can be forgiven for being a bit overzealous! I do think that someone here should mention the movie "Crumb" though. In this do #$@%! artist Robert Crumb and his brother are both depicted as being obsessed with Robert Newton as Long John Silver--an interest that takes them both down some very unsuual paths indeed. The picture is a must-see for anyone interested in Mr. Newton and proves your point about the actor's unwitting ripple-effect through pop culture. This is one great site. Thanks.

I thought to myself if Moonie loves this guy so much i have to check him out! Ive only seen Treasure Island yet but i am going to try to hunt down as many of his other films as i can! He gave brillant performances in both Treasure Island and Oliver Twist. He was a shameless ham of course, but he was talented enough to always allow us see the human dimension of the character. Comments I have always been a big fan of Robert Newton. I particularly enjoyed his characterization of Long John Silver. A few years ago a now defunct British Cable/satellite TV station showed the fifties Australian Long John Silver TV series, and I was able to videotape most episodes in the series.
